I was watching an episode of 'So u think u can dance'. And something about the couple and their moves made me think of dance as a real form of art. I mean, i'v always known that it is considered as such, but i'd never felt it or connected with it in any way. And, as is my habit, i tried to dissect this new realisation; and this is how i see it now.. Beauty is grace. And grace is always in movement.
An isolated event or incident occurring in the universe has no significance, simply because for it be significant, it has to affect some other entity in some way. But if even two incidents occur together, or relate to each other in some way, we call it a coincidence, and it assumes some significance. And grace, is how much the two or more occurring events are in harmony with each other and the universe.
I have seen countless videos of professional football jugglers, commonly known as 'free stylers', doing amazing things with a football, using every part of their body, stunning skills and tricks that can only be described as mindblowing. This is grace. But the same free styler will out of place, ironically, in a football field, because the game calls for not only harmony between your mind and body, but also complete harmony between 11 different players; moving as one. Watch any game featuring FC Barcelona, and you'll understand. This is the grace, and beauty of sports.
Its not merely a sense of purpose that makes a differnce. A mob may have a very strong sense of purpose, but it can never be as graceful as a marching army. Nor is a sense of calmness, for a crowd of people may be relatively calm, but without the grace of an attentive audience. And results need not reflect grace. A student may study in panic for the last few days before an exam and score well, but more graceful is the planned study.
Imagine a life in synchrony. Where everything has a place, and every tiny action adds up to form a part of a picture that is always in the making.
