Broken bricks on a glass window

A Testament To Irony

Its strange how a smile
might never rise to the face
But simply grows in your mind
and then fades away.
Sometimes you're less afraid
when you're running than when you hide
And anger expressed is more calming
than anger denied.

Miracle is what they say
when they love the joke that life has called
Cursed fate is what they say
when they dont get the joke at all.
Bad luck is what they call it
if they think the joke's not that funny as such
Irony is if they get the joke
but dont like it all that much.

Its irony when the world watches
as a world is killed
And a mind is sacrificed
for what that mind has built.
We hurt the ones we love
and smile at those we hate
We wish we had more time to wish
we'd live before its too late.

Like pain that disappears
just before it gets worse
And dreams that will bubble
before they burst.
Like a falling in love
that doesn't show
And bricks lying broken
on a glass window.
Like turning away
from your only friends;
Like everything else
that doesn't make sense.
